Fast forward a decade, and Milch revealed he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s while writing the Deadwood movie. There'd been talk about a TV movie wrap-up as far back as 2006, when fans were furious at the cancellation of the TV show. So it's not a surprise that he was candid with his frustration about how long it took for HBO to get this movie off the ground and the demands put on Deadwood creator David Milch. He was also candid about saying he decided to return to the role of Seth Bullock for practical reasons- he was available, it shot in a convenient location, and "the money was good." Just over a year ago, Timothy Olyphant thought there was "no fucking way" the movie was going to happen.
